Where to buy food for day hikes?

Hi there,

We will be in Glacier Natl Park in August for 7 nts. We'd like to do a day hike every day and am wondering what's the best place to get snacks for the hikes. I'm thinking of protein bars, beef jerky, fruit or anything that won't need refrigeration in the backpack. We are in Apgar two nights, Many Glacier three nights and Waterton two nights. Is it best to stock up in Kalispell when we land or are there places in the park? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

I would stop at the Super 1 in Columbia Falls (I think that's the town, it is on the way to the park from airport). Better selection and prices. There are a couple of small stores at Apgar and St. Mary but very limited selections and higher prices.

Ditto and ditto. It is the Columbia Falls Super One that will be your best grocery store. It will be on your right as you pass through CF and it's open 24 hours.

If you are coming in early or mid-August, you will encounter plenty of cherry stands along the way, since the Flathead Lake area is world-renown for growing excellent cherries. Be aware that sometimes fruit gets confiscated at the US-Canadian border. Waterton has little touristy grocery stores.
