Mosquitoes

Are there mosquitoes in the park at present please?

We are at Banff at present and the mosquitoes here are terrible.

We will be arriving at Glacier in about 12 days time.

Thank you.

it has been hot and dry in GNP. I have never seen the Mosquitos in GNP like those in the Canadian Rockies.

I just returned home from both places. There were some mosquitoes in Glacier, but they were much worse in the Banff area! Put on bug spray to be on the safe side, but they won't bother you as much!

Thank you. Bug spray with 30% Deet is not proving very effective in Banff!

Left glacier July 4. Wasn't bad. We had bracelets in case.

Mosquitoes weren't bad while we were at GNP in mid July, but there were biting flies as well. Insect repellent (we used non deet) and permethrin clothing worked for us.

there are some place worse than others, like Johns lake trail off GTTS or Kootenai lake trail in Waterton. These are very wooded and cool so the M's do very well therre.

We just got back and the mosquitos weren't too bad, but the the biting flies were HORRIBLE on the Iceberg Lake and Ptarmigan trails--felt like we were being chased back down the trail by a swarm of flies. Our spray seemed to help some with the biting, but the swarms were still all around us! Not so much on the Highline, Grinnell Glacier and Virginia Falls though.

No mosquitos but lots of flies and bees last week. Didn't get bitten or stung, just more of a nuisance. Going on hikes early helps, as they seem to get out more in the heat of the day.
