Lunch stop back to Spokane

Thank you all for your help as we continue to develop our itinerary for this July. Now we're looking for advice on the final leg -- the drive back from Many Glacier to the Spokane Airport. We've decided to stay overnight in Coeur d'Alene, at this Forum's advice, and then drive in to the airport the next morning for a 1:30 flight home.

Question of the moment: Any advice on what a good stopping point would be for lunch on the Many Glacier-Coeur d'Alene leg? I'm thinking Whitefish, but other interesting, unique stop/restuarant would be welcomed.

Had a great dinner at Columbia Falls's 3 forks grille and decent Vietnamese food at Saigon Garden in Kalispell. Both are enroute to Spokane (Whitefish requires slight detour).

The back room in Columbia Falls has great BBQ. There are some small and unique restaurants of varrying quality along highway two if you chose that route back to Spokane via Bonners Ferry, ID.

Whitefish, as noted, is a slight detour, but has great dining at a number of restaurants. Great Northern for burgers and Wasbi for sushi. Bigfork, on the east side of flathead lake has some great options and is a fun stop to shop and look around, and is along the return route home.Sommers Bay Cafe, just off the highway in Sommers is quaint and good food. Lastly, Tamarak brewing in Lakeside has great beers and very good food.

Are you planning to take US 2 through Bonner's Ferry or head down through Hot Springs and take I-90 through Coeur d'Alene?

The Back Room in Columbia Falls for either route.

For Whitefish, the Northern and Wasabi are good. The Bulldog also has good grill food and "interesting" décor.

I agree with the suggestion of the Tamarack in Lakeside (if you go through Cd'A).

All above are good suggestions for lunch. Both Highways 2 and 93 will take you right through Kalispell. I would add to the list: Brannigan's Irish Pub, Bonelli's Bistro and the famous Moose's Saloon!
