Where to stay?

We are coming from Spokane, WA to go to Glacier National Park and stay in a motel on the west side for two or three nights. From Glacier we are headed south to Billings, MT. I am confused about where to stay the nights we want to be in or near the park. Our trip will be in mid August.

The best bet is inside the park, otherwise theres not much thats close on the West side for Hotels. There are cabins and yurts that you can get at campground in the West Glacier area.

There are a few hotels on the west side for you to consider. First is https://www.westglacier.com this is Apgar Village Lodge and the West Glacier Motel and Cabins. they are immediately near the Village Inn (part of glacier park lodges) , Also check out possibilities in Hungry Horse, MT. HOWEVER IMHO i would stay on the east side of the park don't see a time frame so i don't know if making park reservations are available for you.

Village Inn at Apgar is right on Lake McDonald. Great views. www.xanterra.com for in park lodging but it books up six to twelve months in advance. If possible try for one night in the Many Glacier area at Many Glacier hotel or Swiftcurrent. Many feel this is the most scenic area of the park. Call for cancellations instead of using the website.

You really should do a night on the east side. Outside of logining thru Xanterra and Glacier PArk there area few places in browning and in St Marys.

there is more to see on the east side.

You are probably too late to be in the park this summer. You might try using the north end of Kalispell/Whitefish to drive into the west side, if you don't mind commuting in. We did that for about 4 days on one trip and it got a bit old. You might be able to find something in East Glacier, which would let you explore the Two Medicine area as well as day trip into Many Glacier, by far the most spectacular area of the park. As suggested above, you might try calling the lodges directly to check for cancellations. On the West Side, I agree with hikes: Village Inn is the way to go if you can get in! This link will get you there faster: www.glaciernationalparklodges.com/lodging. Good luck!
