Which entrance?

In a few weeks, We will be driving from Flagstaff to GC, spending the night at GC, and then driving to Page the next day in the afternoon. Which entrance should we enter and leave by? I was thinking of doing the Hermits Road (West area) the first afternoon, and doing the Desert View Drive the next morning. Is this time division sensible? Or does either area merit more time than the other? Thanks!

Your plan is good. Go to the main gate at Tusayan.

Your plan makes sense. Enter by the South Gates near Tusayan. Give some time to the Village/Hotel Zone area with its viewpoints and other attractions (Yavapai Geology Museum, Hopi House, Lookout Studio, Kolb Studio). Allow about 2-3 hours for Hermit Road as far as Hermit Rest. Enjoy sunset and/or sunrise along the rim. Allow about 2-3 hours for the viewpoints along the 25 miles of Desert View Drive as far as the Watchtower. Exit by the East Gates just beyond the Desert View Watchtower. Once you're ready to leave, it'll be about 2.5 hours from the East Gates to Page. You may want to stop at Cameron Trading Post along the way.

Enjoy your visit.
