Any advice on where to stay Monday and Tuesday night by the grand canyon? I realize it's a little late! Looking for under $150 a night

Call the park lodging concessionaire, 888.297.2757. If you're not in the states yet, 303.297.2757.

I didn't look but likely the park lodging web site will show no availability. However there are cancellations all the time.

Next best is in the town of Tusayan just outside the south park entrance.

tusayanhotels.com

Williams (60 miles) and Flagstaff (90 miles) also have a lot of choices of lodging.

If keeping your nightly hotel costs under $150 is a priority, you might want to take Grand Canyon in-park and Tusayan off the table at this point. Williams usually has rooms around $100/night, mostly Howard Johnson, Super 8, Motel 6 - not the Four Seasons, but clean and comfortable. If nothing is available in Williams (60 miles from GC), Flagstaff is the next best option (90 miles from GC) http://bit.ly/zGuas4

You might also try the Grand Canyon Inn in Valle, which is about 30 miles South of the park. Nightly rates there are also reasonable. www.grand-canyon-inn.com
