30 min or 1 hour helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon?

My husband and I will be traveling to the Grand Canyon in early July. We are hoping to take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon, but are unsure if we should take the 30min or 1 hour tour. We've never been before, so if we only take the 30 min we will not know what we are missing, but don't want to feel rushed/jipped either. Any thoughts on if the 1 hour tour is worth the extra money? Do you see more? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If you're going to do it, take the longer flight. It's not about seeing something else, it's just seeing more of it.

Go for the longer flight if its in the budget. Also go in the morning when the air is smoother and colors more vivid.

Great! Thank you for your comments/help. I think we are going to go with the hour flight around 9am.

There are no helicopter flights to or from the north rim. The flights from Grand Canyon Airport at Tusayan, just outside the GCNP at the south rim, offers flights that go across and fly for a few minutes above the edge of the north rim. But the flights all return to GCA.

It would be helpful to know the rest of your itinerary.

Thank you so much.

The helicopter trip will be an additional extra during our escorted our . I know that we are staying 1 night inside the Grand Canyon, and the next morning possibly have this opportunity . The booklet indicates there may be a choice between North canyon, which explores Dragon Canyon , Tower of Ra etc, or an ECO star trip. Both seem to be 30 minutes.

The North Canyon helicopter tour is a 30-minute flight over the Dragon Corridor operated by Papillon Helicopters. It is typically conducted in Bell Jet Ranger Helicopters, which are the older Grand Canyon tour helicopters. If you have the $$, upgrade to the Majestic flight, which is the exact same tour (30 minutes, Dragon Corridor) conducted on the Eco-Star EC130's, which are the newer, quieter ships with all forward-facing seats, operated by Grand Canyon Helicopters, a subsidiary of Papillon.

If you have the option/budget to upgrade to the longer flight (which typically runs 45-50 minutes), their tour names are Imperial, which is Papillon/Bell Jet Ranger; or the Grand Kingdom, which is Grand Canyon Helicopters/Bell Jet Ranger.
