Advice on where to stay in Jackson and Yellowstone

We are going to be taking a Harley trip in early August and par tof our trip will be coming from Twin Falls to Jackson Hole (spend the night in the area) and then onto Yellowstone the next day for some exploring (and spend the night) before heading from Yellowstone to Missoula and continuing our trip back out west.

Any advice on places to stay in both Jackson and Yellowstone as well as 'must see' sights?

You are extremely late in planning this trip -- the area fills up early. It is likely you may not find lodging in the park and may have to turn to gateway communities: West Yellowstone, Gardiner or Cooke City, Montana, or Flagg Ranch, Wyoming. Jackson is too far south to be a base for Yellowstone, but it fine for exploring Grand Teton National Park. I'd generally recommend someone spend at least 4 days in Yellowstone and another day or two in Jackson/Grand Teton. Call Xantera to check on lodging availability, and keep checking back for cancellations, you likely will have to take whatever you can find that's available.

Just an aside - traffic in Yellowstone often stops due to animals on the road. I would not be very comfortable stopped in bumper to bumper traffic and have bison, bear or wolves walking past me -- the animals are huge and do occasionally charge people and vehicles.

Get on the lodging reservations ASAP and plan around that. There are rooms available in Yellowstone, but you will have to work at getting them and may have to jumble your routes some to make it work. Jackson and area will have no availability for the best deal lodging nor will Grand Teton. Buckrail and Signal Mountain are two of several that are fully booked. However, there are lots of accommodations in the area, and cancellations do occur, so there will be something. Good luck.

one place just 30 miles north of ynp on your way to missoula is one of my favorite places to stay called chico hot springs. it's in a little crossroads called pray, mt. they have all different types of accomadations, a saloon, & a super restaurant. the hot springs are great to soak in & rooms are reasonable for the area.
