Completion date of Roaring Fork up in the air

I just read an article this morning informing me that work on the re-surfacing of Roaring Fork auto tour has been temporarily suspended. It seems the Nat park service was dissatisfied with either the progress made so far, or the method or materials being used to complete this project. No word on when the job will be restarted or who will complete the project.

It's sad, because this was always one of our favorite drives in the park.

I won't be able to make it to the Smokies this year, but I truly hate it for all who will be. I love Roaring Fork, such a peaceful drive after a day in the Gatlinburg crowd! Hopefully all the kinks will be worked out and progress will continue very shortly.

This could mean it wil be closed until next sping, if they don't get on the ball soon.

Roaring Fork is very popular during the summer and autumn months, so I'm sure the park isn't at all pleased with this decision, but they do need to get it right the first time.
