Tent camping in VA near water/ trails (hike and bike)

Looking for tent camping in VA that offers drive in capability, seclusion, water access (fishing), trail access and beautiful scenery. Will be going with 4-6 adults, so alcohol consumption is a must.

Access to water sports (rafting/ kayaking) or treetop ziplining is a plus. As is hunting for small game.

Thanks in advance!

Many of the VA State Parks will meet some of your needs, for example Shenandoah River SP, the tent sites are right on the river, some are secluded enough, check my review and others with photos here.......

New River SP is basically a 57 mile trail from Pulaski to Galax with several campgrounds along the way, look at the Fries to Galax section, Foster Falls and others.

Based on your description of activities you may want to check with an outfitter for location suggestions. Try Riverside Outfitters in Richmond, they may have some ideas........

Are you interested in locations in the Shenandoah area or anywhere in VA?

Happy trails

You should also look into James River State Park. They've got primitive campsites on the river, plus canoe/kayak rentals including shuttles, plus plenty of hiking trails.

Here's what the state park website says about alcohol: State law permits alcohol use only in private areas (inside a cabin or camping unit) or in areas designated on permits issued by the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The key thing is to be respectful of those around you which will almost always include small children.

Hunting is not permitted during camping season in any State Park. The only thing in season right now anyway is groundhog; check the DGIF website for more information about what you can hunt when and where.

There's also the campgrounds in SNP. You'll certainly have access to scenery and trails, but not so much of the other activities you mention. Certainly no hunting.

Not in Virginia, but look at Greenridge State Forest in Maryland. May fit your list.
