Traveling a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway is always a wonderful scenic drive, 35-45mph makes it longer to get to your destination but worth it extra time.

For music, stop in Floyd Va on a Friday night for great country/bluegrass jamboree.

I just got back from a kayak trip with Downriver canoe Co in Bentonville, couldn't have been better. Also in Bentonville is Shenandoah River State Park, good hiking trails and Virginia Canopy ziplines in the park. My reviews are pending, should be posted in few days. SRSP has full service cabins, tent camping and RV campground. Shenandoah Natl Park has miles of great trails, check out the trail index of Virginia Trail Guide for a list:

Hope this helps.

One of my favorite areas in the Virginia Mountains is the area around Mt. Rogers. There is Grayson Highlands State Park which has really unique scenery for the area with a lot of alpine meadows and even a herd of wild ponies.
