There are Wal marts in both Mesquite, Nevada and St George.Also regular grocery stores in both places.

There is a grocery store in Springdale,but if you are buying a ton of stuff,you will have a better selection and pricing in St.George.

At Bryce,inside the Rubys gift shop is a small store to buy some groceries.Not a great selection.Sort of like buying food at a 7-11 convienience store.

I don't remember any stores near Escalante,but I wasn't really looking either.

In Torrey,there is a small grocery/deli in front of Austins Chuckwagon.

There's a very well stocked Smith's near Albertson as well. Take first St. George exit off I15 and it's on your right hand side after a mile or so. It has beer but only 3.2 %. So for heavier beer try Mesquite. (Or a State Liquor store in Utah).I've heard it's not allowed to bring stronger liquor into Utah but it never stopped us from bringing it last 20 years or so.

And what did I tell you before? "It will be september in a wink!"

thanks to all for your comments. We'll do our shopping no later than St. George, and bring a couple bottles of wine in with us from Nevada. Just need to figure whether white or red goes with peanut butter and jelly.

Lee's Discount Liquor in Mesquite, right off the interstate & visible from the highway, not only has a large selection, but reasonably priced and a much easier place to buy wine than looking for a stop on your way out of Las Vegas. If you're flying into LV, it's a fast & furious road race to the north end of town on Int. 15 so not a great time to detour for shopping.

St. George(actually Washington, just north of St. Geroge) has lots of grocery stores including Wal-Mart & Costco with easy interstate access from exit 10 at north end of town then a quick jump back on Int. 15 to the Zion exit.

There's a very nice grocery store in Escalante; right in the center of town.

That market in Torrey sells local Utah beers. You can buy Polygamy Porter!

They've probably got a few more. I'll check next month.

But it's still 16 days before we leave for Utah. Off to Perth tomorrow for a few days; a couple of young people celebrating their 70th birthdays and 1st wedding anniversary.
