Zion national park end of Nov

Hi! I'm planning a trip at the end of November to go to Zion national park...can anyone tell me if they might get a lot of snow around this time? Driving up from Phoenix and don't want to get there and not be able to hike! Any other recommendations or tips would be appreciated! Thanks! :)

Greetings and welcome.

Should be a good time to visit Zion. Snow is possible, but even if it did snow it would likely be a small amount and nothing that should deter you from going to the park. http://www.zion.national-park.com/weather.htm

Daylight hours will be shorter and the temps will be cooler. Have the appropriate gear. There are rental outfitters in Springdale that could help fill in the gaps of items you don't have. Here is a good hiking guide. Click on a trail for descriptions and photos. www.citrusmilo.com/zionguide/allhikes.cfm

I would be more worried about ice than snow if there was any recent storm, especially in the morning. The temps this time of year average in the 50's-60's in the day and in the 30's at night. In the canyon ,snow (if there is any) does not stick around long.

Depending on the weather at the time, if it is icy, you will want some traction devices for your boots like Yak Trax or Stabilicers or similar. They rent them in town at the outfitters. Odds are you probably won't use them.

The trails that lead from the canyon floor out onto the mesas are prone to icing up where the rock walls provide shade/block the sun. Odds are that you will not encounter such conditions as already stated. The hiking paths in the lower portions of the canyon can be icy as well, but not dangerous if you lose your footing. Also note that the narrows is a good option in November as well, with the appropriate gear which is rentable in Springdale from Zion Adventures or Zion Rock Guides.
