Bird Watching mid-late March

Never been to Zion. There is a lot of info here about the park, so I've been reading a lot! We're going to be there for a few days mid to late March. Any recommendations on sites for bird watching?

Watch for condors in Kolob area and other areas. Sorry, I can't remember which shuttle stop we saw them. Old age is setting in. Can someone else help? It was one of the last stops.

There are only a handful of condor pairs in the park. Your best bet to see them is to take the rim trails from the main canyon, and get up higher. West rim trail starts at the Grotto, and East rim trail starts at Weeping rock. Many people will head to Scout Lookout and further up the west rim trail

I have not paid attention to birds, nor have I visited in the summer when bird watching is likely at its best. Zion has more than one environment in the park, mainly localized to the different sections such as Kolob canyon, the East and North Mesa, and the main canyon. I am sure you will see a few varieties of birds in the main canyon, as you are exploring the park. The NPS site has a section on bird watching that may be useful>> www.nps.gov/zion/naturescience/birds.htm Make sure to check in at the visitor center for ideas as well.

The local Audubon society hosts a Winter Bird Festival every year with plenty of ideas of places to search for birds, with maps:

Near Zion, I'd concentrate on the Virgin River area.
