Pensacola in July/Blue Angels

My family and I are planning a trip to Pensacola Beach in July. As I was looking at the rates for a condo, a lot of their rates went up on Blue Angels weeks. I checked out the Blue Angels web page and they have a show on the 14th. I have never been to a show and was wondering if they practice all week long and have the "big finale" on Saturday. Any information would be greatly appreciated :) Also some of the condos advertise as right where the BLue Angels fly over. Would we be able to watch from our balcony or the beach or would the museum be the best place. Thanks!!

If I were to be arriving in Pensacola after the show already started (B/t 1-2) are there still plenty of good places to park, see the show and without being stuck in a log jam of traffic after the Angels finish?

I'd be grateful if a suggestion or two was listed (if feasible) or you can PM me.

We will be on the 1st leg of our trip to stay in SoWal that day and just happen to already be headed that way. Very cool and glad I saw this thread otherwise I might have not known.

After reading about past news from the July air shows, I realize now how big it is and what kind of a parking situation it is.

We went to this and left because the weather was so bad (an abbreviated airshow took place thirty minutes late). The traffic getting into Pensacola Beach was terrible. It took nearly three hours to get through the jam. There was no parking available except in sand lots a mile away from Casino Beach, the center point for the display. There were no broadcasts about traffic or whether the show would be delayed. The day before the tourist bureau could offer no information about where to park: "just show up and follow the crowd."

I think the only way to see this is to rent a south-facing room and get there on Friday morning for the afternoon practice and then leave on Sunday morning.

This was a terrible experience. I will never visit Pensacola Beach again.

The show at Pensacola Naval Air Station is more accessible.

Sorry you had a bad experience, I always say come watch the show on Thursday, if you can't handle crowds or traffic! We can't control the weather, and true Blue Angel fans always have a great time. I watched them on the Beach Thursday, and by boat on Friday and Saturday, we had a great time! A little rain is always possible, at least the Blues did fly yesterday!

We went to the Thursday practice and had a great time. The Blue Angels were amazing to watch. I will say it was very crowded, so I cant imagine what it was like on Friday and Saturday. For any who plan to go next year, rent a room or go very early to avoid the traffic mess. There was very little traffic direction or information provided by the local officials.

just got back from fort walton and the air show in pcola. it was great. we went on friday and there were a lot of people then. we went down by fort pickens and got a great spot on the beach. you are not in the thick of things there, you need to go around the beach ball tower , the pier , or the bay side coming in over the bridge. we saw a good bit of the show but then decided to drive out before the crowds and we watched the blue angels on the bay side in the parking lot. OMG , it was great. If you are going for the show, go where all the peeps are , o , they have porta potties there also, not so much down the beach. lol
