Any idea where you are staying? The Smokies and Blue Ridge Mountains is a large area.

If they aren't too young, take a day and go to Dollywood. Seriously, everyone should do it once. Also, some rafting companies do easy trips (and tubing) for younger folks-Nantahala River isn't too terribly far from Bryson City. Cherokee has some tubing as well as the Mountain Farm Museum. If your kids are into wildlife watching, Cataloochee Valley and the elk herd are near Maggie Valley.

I'm wondering the same thing, but staying closer to Pigeon Forge. What did you end up doing, and what do you recommend?

Kristine, If you're staying near Pigeon Forge, you may have better luck on the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains National Park forum. It's quite active, as are the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg forums.
