3 Nights Up the Oregon Coast

My girlfriend and I will be driving up the coast from Crescent City to Astoria in August. Can you please recommend 3 great cities and/or hotels to stay along the way?

Thank you!

Don't know what you mean by "great cities", this is the OR coast! LOL

Anyway, northbound... just a few ideas.

For funky town and beautiful scenery, Yachats.

Yachats/Cape Perpetua

Fireside Motel and Overleaf Lodge, both on this website.

For more to see and to do, actually, lots: Newport.

Some like Cannon Beach. It's a little artsy, f----y town, nice beach, famous Haystack Rock (you'll see many on your drive) and Ecola State Park adjacent at north end.

Astoria, toward the mouth of the Columbia R., historical, and the OR base of the Megler Bridge going into WA State.

Worth seeing also: Fort Clatsop - Lewis and Clark National Historical Park

What are your plans after OR?

Do you visit galleries? If so, can send a list of better ones.

Heck, why not just stop at all of the nice little towns?

We don't have "cities" on the Oregon coast - the largest town is about 25,000 population...

You didn't mention a budget for lodging but if you can afford it, The Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach is amazing. Next door is Ocean Lodge, both of these places have beautiful views of the ocean and Haystack Rock.

If you want to stay in Astoria, The Cannery Pier Hotel is beautiful. Try to book asap for August in this area. www.oldoregon.com Have fun! :)

Last August we did the coast drive and stayed in Yahats at the Overleaf, Cannon Beach at the Ocean Lodge and then Astoria at the Cannery Pier. Loved each and every one of them.
