Detritus and Debris

We are going to have to put off our trip to the Oregon Coast until next year, so I suppose that in addition to viewing the beautiful scenery of the coast, we wlll also see a variety of detritus and debris washed over from Japan.

Don't give it a second thought. Oregonians won't let their coastline get ugly.

Stuff is already washing up and gets picked up just about as fast as it arrives.

There are systems in place so people can get free trash bags at state parks and pick up smaller, lighter junk as they stroll the beaches. There are many other drop-off sites as well. There are also several government agencies to contact if somebody locates something too large and/or too heavy to carry. In addition to that, there is a special hotline to call if someone finds something hazardous such as a fuel drums, propane tanks or whatever.

Oregonpoppa is exactly right - we won't let our beaches get cluttered!
