7 day trip in April - looking for ideas

Hi all,

We're planning a 7 day trip from SF and are filling in details and looking for some ideas on the coast. Interests are scenic drives, food, wine, beer and nice accomodations.

We're fairly certain we'd like to spend 3 nts at the Allison - a full day wine tour plus a tasting day on our own . Dinner at Jory and 2 other places TBD. Ideas?

Then 2 nts in Portland - a day in the city (not sure why) and dining. Really interested in a brewery tour/pub crawl. Ideas?

What's undecided is how we get there and back - presumably along the coast. We'd like to break the driving in half so looks like Bandon is halfway via the coast. Via I5 not sure. Crater Lake lodge isn't open in April so...

Any thoughts on getting to and from Portland area via car - one coastal, one inland route with stopovers that provide a nice hotel, food, view etc? BTW we are into the food more than the atmosphere and love all kinds.

Thanks in advance

Bryon

For other meals wile staying at th Allison, you might look at Painted Lady, Rcipe and Subterra in Newberg; Paulee', Red Hills Provincial Dining, Tina's, Dundee Bistro and Red Hills Market in Dundee; Nick's Italian Cafe, Thistle, LaRambla and Bistro Maison in McMinnville.

Several of these are open for lunch, so you can try more than just a couple.

halfway from SF is Ashland- a good place to stop given your interests...not sure about restaurants, but they probably have fine dining available-since it is home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival....

Likely best bet for routes from SF to Portland are going up 101 and inland on I-5... scenery is nice for a good chunk- from Redding to Eugene...
