Road trip from San Franscisco to Seattle

Travelling from San Francisco to Seattle August 3 to 10. My plans are

Day 1 San Fran to Fort Bragg

Day 2 Fort Bragg to Eureka

Day 3 Eureka to Brandon

Day 4 Brandon to Portland

Day 6/7 Portland

Day 8 Portland to Seattle

I have booked accommodation but this can be easily changed.

I have a day to spare. Can anyone suggest where to stay the extra day.

We are a family of 5 who love the outdoors. Kids 7,9,13.

Any great things that the kids might really enjoy along the way.

Any suggestions appreciated

trees of mystery (Klamath, ca) I think your kids would get a kick out of it

Harris beach...brookings, or

Cape Blanco, a bit south of bandon, or

Your trip is pretty well planned out :-)

Do you have more than one day in San Francisco? If not, add the extra day there. Otherwise, I'd be tempted to add it to the redwoods / Eureka area as there is lots to do there.

Or, perhaps add a day in Gold Beach to take the jet boat ride?

Or, turn inland and stay a night in/near Grants Pass and take the shorter (less expensive) jet boat ride there.

Or, continue up the coast and add a night in perhaps Seaside - a fun day for the kids.

LOL, you have a number of options!

By the way, it's 'Bandon', not 'Brandon'. It was founded by an Irish lad and named after his hometown of Bandon in Ireland :-)

Some things the youngsters might like:

Glass Beach and McKerricher State Park, Fort Bragg

Samoa Cookhouse, Eureka

Drive thru tree, Klamath

Trees of Mystery, Klamath

Prehistoric Gardens (dinosaurs), near Port Orford

West Coast Game Park, Bandon

If you go as far north as Newport/Depoe Bay, whale watching

Hi, we are doing a similar trip about the same time the other way! Portland to San Fran

August 1-15, three nights Portland, 2 nights Depoe Bay, 2 nights Gold Beach, 2 nights Ferndale, 2 nights Forestville (Sonoma) and three nights SF, also deciding what to see and do, and what not to miss.

Suggestions for places to stop for lunch, and dinner suggestions. Our goal is to snag a reservation at French Laundry while in Sonoma, maybe :-) We have been to San Francisco, but never to Oregon, and the coast looks just amazing. Good luck on your trip, maybe we will pass each other..........
