Traffic around Brunswick and Topsham

We've reached that point in the summer where Route 1 traffic through Brunswick is really slowing down/backing up.

I'm sure the local chamber of commerce wouldn't want me to say this, but if you're going from I-295 to Route 1 and you have absolutely no interest in stopping in Brunswick, i.e., you're just passing through and not buying gas or fast food, it's in your best interest to wait and leave I-295 in Topsham and take the coastal connector. Or, if you're headed South on 1 toward I-295, best to zip off at Route 196 (Topsham) because in less than a mile you could be in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Yes, it might add a mile or two to your trip, but Route 1 through Brunswick is moving incredibly slow.

You have been advised. :)
