Should I go to Anguilla?

Should I go to Anguilla?

I'm planning a trip to St. Martin, which I heard is nice but somewhat crowded. I suggested to my travel agent that I spend a couple days in the Virgin Islands to chill out on St. John and Virgin Gorda to get the secluded Caribbean beach experience. She noted that that would require a $400 round-trip plane trip from St. Martin. She recommended balancing St. Martin with Anguilla, which she said is quiet and beautiful. So how about it? Is Anguilla the antidote to crowded hotspots?

Absolutely! Anguilla has 33 magnificent white sand beaches, it's quiet with no casinos, no huge resorts, no traffic to speak of(only has three red lights), excellent restaurants and the kindest, friendliest people you'll ever meet.

If you must go to St. Martin go there first so you can unwind and enjoy the serenity of Anguilla before heading home.

BTW, St. Martin and Anguilla are the same size - except SXM has more than 100,000 people vs. Anguilla's 12,000!

Come experience Tranquality wrapped in blue.

Actually, I believe there are 4 traffic lights in Anguilla now, but they are not always red. They do turn green now and then! LOL. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

LOL. I don't know why I always call them red lights - duh? Now, let me think where the 4 traffic signals are: 1 at Gumbs Hghwy, 1 at Albert's Corner, 1 at the West End near the bike shop and the fourth is at the intersection near the post office/Hungry's. Am I right?

Well I should know I won the hat from Gayle on The other forum last year, and Now trying to remember the spots.

1. Alberts corner in the Valley

2. George Hill/gumbs Hwy

3. West end, road to Long Bay

4. Main Road...in between Long Bay/George Hill. I can't pinpoint the exact location...but its closer to George Hill...

Spoke to a friends niece last night - she has vacationed for 10 years (since she was 15) at her parents time share on St. Martin - never went to Anguilla - we convinced her to go over for a day - she did and last night she told me "I'll never do St. Martin for the whole trip again - Anguilla blows it away - loved it!" She's now trying to convince her parents to get a spot on Anguilla.

Hi, I was on Anguilla 2 weeks ago and stayed at the Frangiapani on Meads Bay. It was our 16th visit! At anytime during the week, with all the costruction going on, we could count no more that 12 heads on the beach!

It's an awesome island, don't miss it.

Anguilla will be the highlight of your holiday! Dazzling white sand beaches, sparkling turquoise seas, gracious locals, scrumptious food at all price points and NO CROWDS!!!

This is vacation HEAVEN! As long as you don't need jet skis, casinos, fast food and duty free shopping, things I think you can find in St. Martin/Maarten, then you'll LOVE AXA.

For future reference, I'd make the trip to Virgin Gorda, a separate vacation and split it between the US and British Virgin Islands. St. John is lovely with wonderful snorkeling. Based there you can do day trips to Jost Van Dyke in the BVI, Norman Island and St. Thomas for shopping. Spend the rest of the trip on Virgin Gorda and do a day trip to Anegada, a spectacular coral atoll with Anguilla like beaches - Loblolly, Flash of Beauty and Cow Wreck.
