Rum Punch!!!

Hello all,

I just made a batch of the Rendezvous Bay Hotel rum punch from the recipe I got here and it is AWESOME! We are having our annual Cinqo de Mayo party tomorrow and will be starting the festivities by giving our guests a welcome cup of the punch as they arrive - just like we used to get at RBH.

Of course my wife and I are liberally sampling the magic elixer and feeling like walking along the beach with our cups full!!!!

You guys who love the punch really need to do this....its funny how aromas and tastes can bring you comfort....I guess the 151 doesn't hurt either.

THE NUTMEG IS THE KEY!!!!!

Rendezvous Punch

2 cans pineapple juice 32 oz

2 cans orange juice 32 oz

1 can guava juice 32 oz

10 oz white rum

10 oz dark rum

5 oz Malibu

2oz grenadine

2 oz almond syrup or amaretto

2 oz hazelnut syrup or fringelike

20 splashes of angostura bitters

Fresh fruit

2 oranges, 2 apples, 2 limes, 2 lemons, sliced and quartered

20 red grapes, ¼ melon honey dew and cantaloupe

NO GRAPEFRUIT - WILL MAKE IT BITTER

Spice:

Dusting of nutmeg, 1 cinnamon stick

Preparation

Cut fruits add to large punch bowl

Add juices and rum

Add herbs and spice

Finally add grenadine until, dark yellow, orange colour appears, not too red, will be too sweet

Adjust alcohol content to taste

Let punch sit in cooler for 1 or 2 days for best result

Will make about 40 punches

No more than 3 per person

2 oz hazelnut syrup or "fringelike"

I apologize, this is a typo, it should be "Frangelico"

I'm glad that you got the recipe!

I remember going to the bar at RBH and looking at that huge punch bowl filled with rum punch. It always looked so delicious with the fruit floating around the bowl. You're right, it smelled delightful.

Your guests are very lucky. What time does the party start??????????

Thanks for the recipe.

I got the recipe from Bart a long time ago, I retyped it for the board, spell checker changed "Frangelico" and I didn't notice.

When we checked in Bart would always give us a big soda bottle filled with the punch - he's right, no more than 3!!

Ellen, thanks for clarifying how the recipe got to us. Now, when do we plan a party to taste the delicious brew?

I had previously posted it a few weeks ago in this thread:

It's a good one, but you do need a crowd because it makes a lot, I made it for our family reunion last year - it was a big it.

Have you ever tried halving it? I think I will make a big batch for our 12 days and chill out on the beach with it.

What a great board this is! It just keeps on giving. Thanks, Ellen & chelloveks, for thinking of the rest of us.
