Did I miss something? Is this really being built?
It's a massive hotel that is already built. They've been working on it for years. We drove through there a few years back while they were still working on it. Looked nice, but it is BIG.
Ann, this hotel has been an ongoing construction project for more than 10 years. Mr. Gumbs is an Anguillian and used no outside financial help (or labor, I think) with hotel construction. It's a beautiful hotel centrally located with fantastic views.
I congratulate him on his efforts and commend him for seeking out on his own a hotel chain to be affiliated with. I believe there was a press briefing with the Chief Minister not to long ago congratulating Mr. Gumbs and announcing Choice deal.

Ann, did Anguilla need Viceroy? Does it need Temenos? How about Cuisinart - especially there since a beautiful hotel/spa was on it's footprint. At least this hotel is built and owned by an Anguillian.
Is this the huge building with red & green roof that you see from the Jeremiah Gumbs highway?
E.J., that is the one, high up on the hill, there are more pictures of it and an article on Anguilla Beaches.com.....
That was being built when we were at Cinnamon Reef in Little Harbour oh so many years ago. Glad to hear it's finally opening. It was always planned as more of a convention place, wasn't it?
Wow, never saw it.....I am a relatively newcomer to the island and don't know all the ins and outs. Appreciating you setting me straight. I support locals and their endeavors to run business. Peace

Ann, you are just way too cute! :)
Ann, I was horrified when it was first being built -- from the Cinnamon Reef pool, it just loomed over everything. Over the years and with the advent of the Jeremiah Gumbs Highway, I honestly forgot that it was even up there. It is part of the landscape at this point.
