I have read that it closed.

Is that true?

Hi,

We returned 2 weeks ago from Jolly Harbour, when you say Jolly Beach I presume you mean Jolly Harbour because these are 2 different resorts. But yes the Casino as closed down in Jolly Harbour, we were told by one of the sailing company's who live in the Marina at Jolly Harbour that allegedly the casino company didn't pay there electric bill so they was cut off, and then moved to another apart of the island but we don't know where, which also means Saffron Restaurant & Gladiators Bar are not open because of having no electric, don't know if this will be permanent.

We went there and it was really small, and it just felt sketchy. We were the ONLY people in there, so I guess it wasn't the most popular place.

Gladiators Casino was ALWAYS empty and the sports bar was overpriced with terrible food. Once in a while you would see a local kid popping quarters into the slots but that's about it. Not surprised it shut down.

There was a rumor that some Americans bought it and it was to relaunch in Sept/Oct. Apparently that hasn't happened.

Oh, I should note that if you are looking to gamble...try Kings Casino in St. John's right next to Heritage Quay (on the water). Friday and Saturday nights are actually kinda fun with live music in the bar area. The place gets relatively crowded with a good crowd of locals and tourists. Not Vegas, but a good atmosphere nonetheless. Drinks won't break the bank, either.
