a little help

back in 1993 we got married in Pineapple Beach Club in Long Bay, we can't seem to find it or its reincarnation. Does anyone know its new identity? Thanks

The Pineapple Beach Club sustained major damage from Hurricane Luis in 1995 and was rebuilt and expanded to 135 rooms. It then was sold to Allegro International shortly thereafter. It sustained some damage from Hurricane Georges in 1998. In 1999, Allegro constructed an additional 45 rooms up on the hillside and another pool was added. The 18 chair stone bar ( constructed in 1996 ) was destroyed to add additional restaurant space ( Captains Table - now known as Chef Pietro ) and the bar was replaced by a much much smaller 5 chair "Piano Bar". The Pineapple Grill was enclosed and air-conditioned. In 2001, Occidental bought the Allegro Pineapple Beach Resort and did very little in improvements. The name was changed to Occidental Grand Pineapple Beach Resort. In late 2006 it was sold to a subsidiary of Sandals. The name was changed to Grand Pineapple Beach Antigua ( there is now a Grand Pineapple Beach in Negril, Jamaica ) They have recently refurbished 70 rooms in the Beachfront and Waterside categories. If you visit, be prepared for a shock ... because it looks much different than it did in 1993. The ambiance has changed dramatically. All rooms now have air conditioning. The food selection and quality has, year by year, deteriorated since the PBC era. However, the room rates haven't gone up that much, curiously enough.

See the following link for rates 10 years ago and a picture of the 18 chair bar (that really had been torn down by 1998).
