My husband and I are going to Antigua (so excited and can't wait!) towards the end of October this year. We're staying in a self-catered villa near Willikies for 2 weeks. I have a few questions and if anyone could offer any advice it'd be much appreciated!
1) I've made arrangements with St. James Travel & Tour to pick us up at the airport when we arrive (which will be late - around 2040) and take us to the villa. I also have rented a car from Avis and the rental is to start the day AFTER we arrive. St. James Travel says they will have Avis deliver the car to our villa. Has anyone ever had their car delivered to them at their destination through Avis WITHOUT contacting Avis themselves? I don't even see that Avis (on their website) even offers this service? And no, I haven't contacted Avis myself because I didn't want to confuse the matter - perhaps there is some sort of special arrangement the Antiguan Avis office has with St. James Tour?
2) Our villa will be provisioned prior to our arrival with some groceries to get us by, but my husband and I do plan on doing additional grocery shopping. Any good markets/stalls/specialty shops to go to?
3) When we travel we really try to "eat like a local". Any recommendations for great Antiguan/Caribbean restaurants and/or street food vendors?
Again, ANY information would wonderful!
