Spending money

My boyfriend and I are thinking about going to Antigua in late April.

We're planning on staying all inclusive at the Verandah which is a little on the pricey side but because it's all inclusive that takes the food and drink burden off us.

We would of course like to look around the island whilst we were there so we're unsure of how much spending money we should take between us.

How do the prices compare with that of the UK and do you have to tip most places that you visit etc?

The amount of spending money, of course, will depend completely on what you intend to do while on the island, and what types of places you intend to visit, whether you choose to rent or taxi, etc. Could you provide a bit more information?

Cheers,

Daryl

Its next to a wonderful beach called Long bay and have to mention this because we went on the xtreme circumnavigation (when we were at Grand pineapple) and a family we met had not ventured out of verandah to LONG beach ! It is a 2minute walk!

We would recommend the circumnavigation trip it was awesome.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

Well the holiday is booked now so we're committed lol We have no plans to rent a car so taxi's would be the best bet or bus if that's a suitable option. What are the main tourist attractions worth visiting? Perhaps once I have an idea of that we could work out roughly how much spending money we should take.

This cricumnavigation trip sounds interesting. Did you book it at the resort mattjak?

Take US Dollars with you, every one takes them, we normally hire a car for a couple of days, well worth it, you can do that at the hotel normally, they will also supply a driving permit. very easy to get around.

you can book the extreme on line and get a discount but can book with the verandah I think(grand pineapple is a sandals franchise so difficult to book anything without a mark up)
