St. James Club or Grand Pinapple

Looking to book a 2 week break in September, which hotel would you choose out of these 2 options. First time in Antigua.

What type of vacation are you looking for? Do you have children or are you coming as a couple? What are your priorities? Need more information to give you a proper assessment.

Just myself and husband both in our 50's just want a relaxing beach break. Good food. Do you know if there are any restaurants nearby for meals when you get bored with hotel food.

September is the quietest month on the island, and you won't find anything open close by either resort I am afraid.

You might want to have a look at Cocobay as an alternative? On the lovely West Coast, and ideal for couples, with decent food and near to plenty of other places to eat and drink (within 10 minutes).

Grand Pineapple has no restaurants nearby (well, other than Barrow's which closes mid-afternoon, an Mama Pasta which usually closes by 7:00 P.M.).

St. James has more choices within the resort-complex. It is also near English Harbour, but most of the restaurants there are closed in September; however a few are open.

Not sure I totally agree with Amanda that September is the "quietest" month. Historically it's been the month with the most hurricanes (though Antigua hasn't had a hurricane in decades now). But be advised, it can be a rainy month (not just in Antigua but in all the Caribbean).

Mizgeorge is spot-on with her advice to go to the west coast. The beaches are the best on the island, and there are many more choices of restaurants there......though define "good food"! Truly fine dining is a bit thin in Antigua, but more prevalent in the winter. You will find decent dining, but many of the places for the best dining (with, alas, prices to match) are closed in September.
