Traveling with young kids

Hello everyone,

We are considering going to Antigua with our young kids (ages 4 and 6) and have a couple questions.

How is the kids club at St. James? What activities take place? Is it a drop off type setup or can parents participate as well? Are there other resorts with good or better kids clubs?

Getting around. If I want to go to the stingray farm or donkey sanctuary, how easy is it to get around with kids? Is taxi travel safe or should we rent a car? What about booster seats?

We are considering St. James but perhaps there is another resort better suited for kids? We are also thinking of renting a house or condo, does anyone have any recommendations or is it best to use rental sites like tripadvisor's or vrbo.com?

What are some "must do's" with kids?

Lots of questions sorry, first time traveling with kids.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi there, we travelled with our 2 boys in May this year (aged 9&5)to the Verandah, St. James' sister hotel and loved it! The kids club was wonderful it opened from 9am to 10pm and there was loads of activities for the kids to do. You could leave them if you wished or stay with them. If you want some 'you' time it's an ideal safe place for your children, we did so a couple of times to enjoy a dinner or 2! The ladies who run it are lovely and encouraged the children to play and make friends, so it felt very relaxed. As for excursions we booked a private tour around the island with Sean from Antigua VIP tours, he is fantastic and at our request took us to the donkey sanctuary and many other places (he has many great reviews!) It was a great day and it was ideal for the kids as we weren't out in the sun all day but could enjoy it as and when we wanted. We booked stingray city before we left the UK and that too was fab, the kids loved it, the staff are very patient and friendly with the kids especially if they are a little apprehensive about getting in the water. Hopefully someone can advise you with other ideas for excursions, and give you some info on the St James club. Enjoy Antigua,it is our favourite place, we will be returning next year for our 3rd visit! ( feel free to read my reviews if that helps!) Lisa😊
