Weather in April

Planning a trip with my boyfriend for the first week in April. How is the weather in Antigua. We have never been and don't know what to expect. When is the rainy season? How is the beach? Anything else about Antigua would be helpful. Thinking of staying at Sandals or Verhanda. We are confused about either going to Aruba or Antigua.

1. Re: Weather in April

Hi

I went in the middle of April last year. Stayed for 15 days, couplde days cloudy and that was it. Lovely weather - not too hot (Egypt) and not too cold (England). Around mid to late 20's.

Coming back same time this year.

Apparently there oarew more beaches than days in a year so there are plenty !

We went in April/ May last year and agree, the weather was just right.

Couple of cloudy days (never cloudy all day, just on and off) 1 day when it rained for about 2 hours (when it rains it rains!!)

Temp was high 20's and a few days low 30's, usually a nice breeze keeping you cool but when it drops you will feel the sun.

Nice at night too, no need for a sweater or cover up as the temp is perfect for sitting out enjoying the evenings.

Going 2 weeks later this year than we went last year so hope the weather wont be too different.

Rainy season is generally late August through the end of October----perhaps a few weeks on either side.

April is usually a very nice time to come here. Just bear in mind it can of course rain ANY time of year------Monday and Tuesday this week here were very windy and rainy.

The beach at Sandals is MUCH nicer than Verandah's two beaches, that are small and man-made. If beach is important to you, there is no comparison, go to Sandals. Verandah is a smaller place (still hundreds of people though) but in an area of the island which is close to nothing----so if you plan to go off-resort Sandals is a much better idea.

Do you like night-life? If so, Aruba is a better bet. Aruba has a much more built-up, American-style feel to it. Antigua is more laid back and to my mind prettier.

So it's really a matter of what you are looking for, your priorities, etc.
