Marriott Resort.....few questions?

Thinking of staying at the Marriott Resort for our honeymoon. Prob October or April! Is there one best time of year? Is the water as clear as the pictures look? We were also thinking maybe Turks and Caicos.....Directly related to the Marriott...are there enough palapas(sp?)to go around? If not,are there umbrellas? Drink service on the beach? How far can you walk in either direction on the beach? Thanks to all who can help!

I have stayed in the surf club in March /April- weather beautiful 80f + with a breeze so you never felt too hot - but a few heavy showers - but they never lasted long

Area around the pool and lazy river was very busy but we did manage to get a palapa thing on the beach without booking - sand is a bit gritty on the Marriott bit - and yes we were offered the chance to buy drinks and food there

Water and beach - well Turks and Caicos is much nicer - and quieter (perhaps more romantic ! - beware October is hurricane sseason there )

But aruba has more restaurants things to do and is more "american " than turk

We went for our HM in October and the weather was amazing. We stayed in one of the timeshares, but I will address the resort since. When we walked around, there were spaces at the pool. Much nicer lounge chairs than what the timeshares have. I don't know about drink service on the beach, but the beach bar is right there. There is a sidewalk down the beach behind all of the hotels and timeshares on Palm Beach. I would walk quite a ways in the opposite direction but for some areas I would suggest water shoes. The Marriott is the last resort on Palm Beach. I do not remember seeing a problem with the palapas at the Marriott resort. We loved the casino. Hope that helps with some questions and perhaps shamrock will pop in and offer some more info.

Stayed at the Marriott last month in a newly renovated room. Nice hotel and room was very pretty. There were plenty of palapas at the beach and there was drink and lunch service by very pleasant waitstaff. Water was not crystal clear but was nice and certainly pleasant to be in. You can walk a long ways in either direction on the beach. We have been to Turks and Caicos and although the beaches are much nicer in Turks, the island itself was too quiet for us and the food was really pretty bad. Whatever you choose, have a great honeymoon !!

T&C wins for diving/snorkling. It is a very quiet island, not much to do. If you just want swim, read a book and relax in a quiet spot Turks is perfect. On the other hand Aruba wins in every other catagory. Way more to do, way more resturants, way more shopping and still great beaches. There should be no problem with pool/beach room at the Marriott. If i remember correctly T&C is also very expensive. Good luck.

It's been a while now for me - but I've been to Stellaris in both October and April. It was my favorite resort in Aruba. Loved the large rooms, huge bathrooms, spacious balconies, great staff. We always found that there were plenty of huts available on the beach - there is drink service - the pool area is great - and you can walk the entire length of Palm Beach to all of the other hotels, restaurants, and casinos.

We really loved the Stellaris.

Good luck and happy planning to you.

(And congrats on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon!)

While you are probably not on too much of a budget on your honeymoon for those that are you should know that the Marriott Stellaris is available for $90 per night via Priceline for many dates through the middle of December. I placed my bid three days ago and "won" the Marriott for $90 per night for a 12/3-10 stay.
