Looking For A Birthday Not In Aruba In February 2012

My husband is having a big birthday in February (16th). I would like to take a 3-7 day trip from Cape Cod/Boston with a $4,000 budget. Any suggestions? Not Aruba because we will be there in Oct/Nov and Dec/Jan. Have been thinking of Cozumel and Bethel Maine. Someone suggested Myrtle Beach, SC, but it would be the cheaper to go out of the country. I need help.

Well, with a $4,000 budget for 3-7 days, none of those destinations would interest me. Myrtle Beach will be in the 50's with the ocean way too cold to swim in, Maine also very cold then-not sure what's in Bethel. IMO, you could go to a nicer destination than Cozumel, but at least it will be warm.

Have you looked into St. John, USVI or Turks and Caicos?

Have looked at the above, but they are more than I want to spend.Seems like US owned places are more other countries.

That is probably close to the beginning of school vacation. That is why everything is so expensive. I know air alone doubles during that time.

Last February, my daughter and I went to England. The snowdrops and crocuses were up and we didn't need coats. Obviously you are not dead set on a tropical vacation unless Bethel has upped sticks and moved south. Have you considered the UK or Iceland?

Consider the scenic Hudson Valley, New York - Mohonk Mountain House

$4000 and 4 days wont get you St. John, USVI or Turks and Caicos?!!?!?

i would think you can do closer to 5-7 days for those if you shopped around.

3k for an ai week in aruba is my bench mark!

For a short trip, I always plan around non-stops. With that in mind-Anguilla is out-too bad. So I'd suggest the Riviera Maya with many beautiful AI resorts to choose from or Couples Swept Away in Jamaica. Both were great vacations.

naples florida. we like it because there are great restaurants, the beaches aren't bad (sanibel and captiva) are not far and shopping is fun. jet blue has great non stop packages out of logan.
