I was staying on top of the trip report thing, but then I got relaxed and was to lazy to continue. Lol. Here's the entire thing again!
Friday March 22- Arrived early with JetBlue from Boston. We had to wait fifteen minutes at the gate because we were TO early. Customs was a nightmare because two other planes arrived, but lucky for us we were in legroom seats on our plane and beat everybody there! We were on the beach within an hour of our arrival!
We stayed at the Hyatt. This was our 11th trip at the Hyatt.
We walked the beach, watched the sunset, tanned, and swam. Al the ingredients of a perfect day!
We ate at Mexicado, the new restaurant in the Hyatt. It was very good, but very expensive. I wouldn't spend all that money just to eat there.
Saturday March 23- Our first full day! We ate breakfast at Ruinas Del Mar and saw our favorite people that work there. They are so great! We then went to the beach. It was HOT! In fact, the entire week was brilliant sunshine and in the 90's (or what felt like it)! It was great! We ate at Madame Jeneatte and had a fantastic meal. I had a special sirloin that was to die for!
Sunday March 24- We again sat on the beach. Relaxing and great! We listened to live music by Rick at Piets Pier. I love hearing reggae while in Aruba! We ate at Palms at the Hyatt. TERRIBLE! Worst meal of the trip! I should have known when they didn't have my reservation in the system that I made three months in advanced! The meal didn't ruin things though, but one person in our party was sick for the rest of the evening after eating there.
Monday March 25- This day was supposed to be Aruba Bob Snorkeling. We drove there, but it was windy, and Stewart said that the conditions weren't good and we wouldn't be able to see any of the 'good' stuff. I was sad at first, but we rented a car, and we beach hopped all day! That was fun! We went to Mangel Halto and just explored. Then we went to Eagle Beach. I have been missing out on staying on that beach! Gorgeous! Probably one of the best beaches I have been too! Not crowded! Perfection! We saw Bucuti and Tara Suites and have already decided that we are staying there for trip #12! What a great looking hotel. We also headed to Boca Catalina and Catalina Cove for snorkeling. It was great as usual. We ended at Arashi. Very busy! Never seen it like that before. Still a great day in the sun! We ate at Hostoria da Vittorio across from the Hyatt. It was very good.
Tuesday March 26- The beach again at the Hyatt! Relaxing. Just LOTS of people! I have never seen the island so packed, especially the Hyatt! We ate at Marandi. WOW! What a great new location! Fabulous. We had a bad meal there back in 2005 and haven't been back, but they made up for it! I had a potato gnocchi special. Best meal of the trip! Not to mention the fantastic pumpkin soup I ordered. Everything was perfect! The view was great too! Right over the water.
Wednesday March 27- Last full day! So sad! We tanned. This was the HOTTEST day of the week. I basked in the sun all day. I got really dark that day! We dined again at Hostoria Da Vittorio and weren't pleased this time. It was OK, but not like the first meal we had on Monday.
Thursday March 28- I always want to cry when I leave Aruba. We had a good 4 hours in the morning before our 2:00pm back to Boston. The CUSTOMS LINE WAS HORRIBLE! Only 3/4 of the plane at the final boarding call! We remember when we used to breeze through. So ridiculous. Arrive 3 hours before not 2! We barely made it!
Overall we had another great trip. Very relaxing. The only issue was the Hyatt at times. Read my review. It just wasn't how it used to be. The people seemed more miserable. Next time we are staying at the Bucuti to try something new. Never thought I would turn on the Hyatt, but the time has come.
Trip #12 will be in November of 2014! Can't wait.
