La Cabana Construction and Hyatt vs Westin

Just booked air for an upcoming week in mid June with 2 children, and trying to decide which hotel to book.

1. La Cabana 1 bedroom (we do have 2 children, and ideally need space). But am concerned about ongoing construction, and the lack of restaurants right outside. We will have one toddler in the stroller, so can't walk too far.

2. Westin. The issue: no 1 bedrooms available, and it sounds like the regular rooms are small. But it is right in Palm Beach.

3. Hyatt. Again, our choice is a regular room for our dates, and we have to fit 4 of us plus stroller/lots of items for the toddler. It is the most expensive choice. It sounds like the location is convenient.

4. Radisson. Again, regular room. Less expensive than Hyatt, but also smaller room.

What would you book for us? The price difference between Hyatt and other choices mentioned is not determinative - just a factor.

P.S. We stayed at Marriott and Renaissance in the past. Love Aruba!

I just ruled out La Cabana altogether due to the possibility of construction noise.

Now the choice is between Westin, Radisson, and Hyatt. I think I may rule out Westin (reading mixed reviews) as well.

Have you considered Marriott Surf Club? We are staying there next week and I will be reviewing, but it is a timeshare hotel. We got a great deal renting from an owner on redweek.com. You would have more room and from what I hear it is a family friendly hotel and I know from our stays at Holiday Inn that it is a pretty walkable location. It's on the opposite end of Palm Beach from the Westin. As for the Hyatt, the grounds are absolutely beautiful but I have noticed that the rooms don't have full balconies, just the style that you can barely step out on, not sure if that makes a difference for you. The area of the beach where the Westin is may be less crowded since it is near the beginning of Palm Beach.

Surf Club is great for kids and you may also look at Playa Linda which is more centrally located. Both are much more than hotel rooms.

Thank you for your suggestions, but we have already stayed at Marriott via our timeshare exchange, and will do so for Playa Linda at some point as well. Our dates are now fixed...

I am debating whether I should book Radisson or Hyatt, and Radisson is winning at the moment.

Thank you!

Why not adjoining rooms or a one bedroom suite at the Radisson. A Bonaire, Curacao or Aruba suite at the Radisson would be large enough for what you described. Here are pictures of the least expensive of the 3, Bonaire suite www.arubabound.com/photos/htl/rad/bon_ste.htm Curacao suite bathrooms have a larger counter, larger balcony, better views and the bedroom is a tiny bit larger www.arubabound.com/photos/htl/rad/cur_ste.htm

We always book the Radisson through MCM Tours aruba4u.com. I would given them a call and see what they can work out for you.

Thank you for your suggestion, but no suites are available for my dates at Radisson on their website or a few other websites I've checked. They do list rooms available in Aruba Tower (Partial Ocean View in Aruba Tower), but I am assuming these are not suites.

I just got back 12 days ago from staying at La Cabana. If you are worried about noise from construction; don't as there wasn't any. All they were doing was painting - no noise..

As for restaurants, there is the Islander Grill & Sbarro's. Behind La Cabana at Tropicana Resort Pizza Bob's just opened in the courtyard and Busters is located inside Trop Casino. A short walk from La Cabana is Tulip at MVC Eagle Beach and Mango's Restaurant at Amsterdam Manor.

For actual suite availability at the Radisson I would not go solely upon their website. I would contact the hotel or your travel agent directly.

We were at LaCabana in February. No construction. Go to the website to see about what is happening if there is a concern.

You will be happy there. lots of room in the 1 bedroom. Much to do for the kids. You could rent a car, if you are concerned. If not there are taxis or the bus.

Go to the store. There are grills on the grounds.

Hyatt has beautiful grounds.. Delicious restaurants.

Have fun.

Radisson Aruba Tower Rooms are a very good size, much bigger then the Hyatt rooms.
