Aruba vs Nassau?

I am going to post on both boards...we will be honeymooning July 2014 and have a timeshare we can use in either Aruba or Nassau...both on the beach. We are in our late 50's and are not huge party people....like relaxing, exploring and we do like the casino. Would appreciate any input from folks that have been to both places as far as preferences to each. The airfare to Aruba is about 30% more but it sounds lovely. I have in Nassau for a cruise stop one time, my fiance has not been to either.

Thanks for any help.

Late 50's and honeymooning - Congratulations & Best Wishes !

Having been to both and based upon what you have stated here I recommend Aruba. It has what you want, so does Nassau but I just feel you will like it here much more. Ease of getting around with or without a rental vehicle, excellent public bus system, excellent restaurants, beaches, casinos, clean and well organized. Enjoy where ever you decide.

I would recommend Eagle Beach at the Costa Linda if you choose Aruba. Not sure your timeshare is exchangeable with it. http://www.costalinda-aruba.com/ I have not been to Nassau so I can not compare the two. Aruba is a desert island and is outside of the hurricane belt. It has lots of sunshine and warm clean water with white soft sand. I am not a fan of the Palm beach high-rise area, but it is a nice place to visit while staying in Aruba. There is a casino within walking distance along with some restaurants in the Eagle beach area. Aruba does have a public transit bus system making it very easy and economical to get around if you don't rent a car.

Thanks for the responses and good wishes. Our timeshare is La Cabana Resort and Casino which has decent reviews here on TA.

Have been to both several times and I would definately recommend Aruba. I feel much safer in Aruba and the weather is pretty much constant as it is a desert island. I do like both islands but my choice would be Aruba.

If all things are equal, I'd pick Aruba for the food and ease of getting around. Course I wouldn't turn down a trip to Nassau though! The last time we stayed there was at Sandals and the beach is beautiful, but you can't just go off walking like you can in Aruba.

Congrats and either place will be a great place to honeymoon!

I have been to both many times. Nassau, Paradise Island, used to be our home away from home. That ended when the Atlantis was built. It is better suited for families with small children. Aruba definitely is a better fit for you based upon your preferences. Safe. Beautiful beaches. Wonderful restaurants. Easy to navigate by public transportation or rental car.

They are totally different kind of places. I think based on what you posted Aruba is your answer. Enjoy.

Of course you ARE on the Aruba forum so opinions might be a little more one sided. :)

I would also vote for Aruba, but we've stopped at Nassau on a cruise and I remember thinking how much it reminded me of Aruba. The people were nice and it had that same Caribbean feel we love in Aruba. Of course I was only in one small area of that island were as AUA I've left footprints ALL over the place! We've been to AUA 16+ times and although I've enjoyed traveling to other islands in between we always make an AUA trip once a year.
