New to the Islands, Why choose Aruba?

Hi all and thanks in advance for your help. We are planning a trip over the Christmas holidays. There will be 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 children (15, 16, 16 and 18). We have never done an island vacation and need some experts opinions. Our plan is to rent a house as we really want to just relax, have a few cocktails, beach, cocktails, eat, enjoy family time and have a few cocktails (it is a vacation). We also want to do some snorkeling and just explore the island. We do not want huge crowds, just a nice beach and relaxation. Thanks again :)

Aruba is the perfect place. There will be others there, it is a popular vacation place.

You can do everything you listed. Enjoy and have fun planning. It's never too early air fare, as soon as you can. Rent your car early too. Perfect place to be as it is snowing or cold at home.

Enjoy

Look into Oceania Condos on Eagle Beach. They could fit your desires.

Instead of a house, would you consider 2 2 bedroom timeshares? Costa Linda is located on Eagle Beach, which rates among the best in the world. You won't need a car to enjoy the type of vacation you desire. Plenty of good dining choices within walking distance. Costa Linda is a short taxi or bus ride to downtown or the High Rise area of Palm Beach. Just a thought. IMO, it would be a lot more convenient than renting a house.

EDS was just ahead of me. Oceana or Costa Linda are both good choices.

Read some issues of home and auto break-ins. I never feel unsafe in Aruba, however I am more comfortable in the resort areas. We rent timeshares through owners on RedWeek and stay at the Marriott complex. The Marriott Ocean Club is a quieter resort, we rent at the Marriott Surf Club, love the lock-off units, washer and dryer in room, the lazy river pool, and swim-up bar.

Plus the ages of the kids you're bringing would work really well in the Palm Beach area. More for them to do and everything is in walking distance and that area would be safe for them to go off as a group without the parents having to be with them.

Aruba is perfect for a family holiday vacation. Not inexpensive but priceless memories.

As others have said, you may wish to look into 2 - 2 bedroom units in either a condo, resort or timeshare.

There are no villas directly on Palm or Eagle beaches so you would be walking or driving to the beach everyday.

The reason why I first chose Aruba was after much researching of the different islands. I found out that Aruba was a desert island and only 12 degrees from the equator and outside of the hurricane belt. It had safe drinking water and was a safe island to travel by yourself on. The people there are friendly, the weather is good with lots of sunshine. I feel comfortable there. We are going back there this June and I am looking forward to it. This trip we will be staying for 11 days on Eagle beach. Palm beach has much more action, more people, more restaurants, less beach. Eagle beach is wider with beautiful water. We have stayed twice at Costa Linda. It is in a good location on Eagle beach. We rented right from their website from timeshare owners. Most are two bedroom two bath units. It is located directly on the beach. There are restaurants, some shops and casino and small store within walking distance.

Hi

We are travelling with our daughter and would like be to around other families with young children age 7 + although we hate huge hotels. We especially love the Caribbean and the easy warm sea, lovely beaches and fantastic people. We are not into kids clubs and night clubs but love history & culture & exploring. Any ideas?
