At what price point would you jump Miami - Aruba?

What’s a reasonable airfare for late October Weekend trip? Being checking for past 3 weeks. AA Roundtrip has being $528. Today $473

Kayak recommends to buy and says prices may rise ... Faredetective History prices for last year: April 2013 $440, May $380, June $385, July $251

I’m afraid to purchase now and prices will fall as they did last year as per faredetective history. However, don't know which airlines were used.

Also read on another post that 11-12 weeks out is the best time to purchase tickets for International Travel.

Any advice greatly appreciated

"Also read on another post that 11-12 weeks out is the best time to purchase tickets for International Travel."

Think about how impossible this theory is.

Traveler A is leaving in 12 weeks from today.

Traveler B is leaving in 14 weeks from today.

So, Traveler B should wait 2 weeks before booking. Right. Then A & B would both be booking 12 weeks in advance but two weeks apart. How could they possibly both be getting the best price? Add as many travelers as you wish and the theory becomes even more impossible.

The BEST time to book is when you are comfortable with a price and never look back.

Our typical price is $450. We are flying out of Orlando this year on Southwest's new rout for under $400. If you see anything in the 4's you should jump.

$473 grab it. I bought a MIA-AUA tickets for June and Christmas, paid $568 both times.

"Faredetective History prices for last year:" --- Airfares, without a doubt for the most part are higher than a year ago. Also factor in that a year ago US Air and American were still competing against one another. Now they are not.

Jet Blue and Southwest/Air Tran are the only ones who don't charge a few for fare change if there is a price drop. Don't believe Jet Blue flies from Miami. I know AirTran does not.

Thanks to all. I jumped and bought them @473 two days ago. Today the ticket went down to $413. As per Kayak’s projection it went down within 7 days. Call AA but because the drop is not $200 can’t reissue the tickets. Ironic. Sometimes you win others you won’t.
