We're booked too! Our 1st visit

Sending a thank you to all. After reading and reading and reading so many threads, I booked a Jet Blue Getaway vacation for one week at the Bucuti this May. Unfortunately it is not the Tara Suites, only a standard Superior room I am NOT complaining. I know these rooms are just garden view but they do look nice. Has anyone here stayed in a Superior Room? Tell me your thoughts.

Thanks again and looking forward to my first visit. Why do I have a feeling I'll be returning and I have not even been there yet LOL

Congrats! We booked this week too at the Bucuti in May!

Isn't half the fun planning!?! I know what you mean about the return feeling. The Aruba vets on this forum sharing all their insights and enthusiasm is contagious!

I can't wait to hear about your trip. I'm anxious to hear somebody compare Aruba to Maui.

ArubaSisters / Shamrock - thank you. Can't wait for this trip. Today is so cold in NYC that I wish I was leaving today but at least I have a couple of months to shed some pounds before I slip or should I say "squeeze" into that bathing suit.

Cunae1 - I saw your other post and I have a feeling we are both going to be at the Bucuti at just about the same time. LOL

Pink - have you not booked yet? What are you waiting for . . . go for it! That way we can have 2 comparisons. Like said before I am not going to Aruba with the frame mind like Maui. I have been to "Beaches" Turks & Caicos back in 2001 and I remember how beautiful the water was, and how Fine & Sugar White the sand was. I could have soaked in the water all day. The sand between my toes felt like powder. I have a feeling Aruba's beaches & water is just like that. Maybe even better judging from the photo's of Eagle Beach.

I completely understand. It was 9 degrees when I left for work this morning. Yikes. I spent the whole drive in thinking, "Three months from right now...." LOL!

I, too, however - am going through the same bathing suit anxiety that you are. :-)

Now that you've booked, what other excursions or activities are on your list for your first trip to Aruba?

Have a great weekend.

Hey Shamrock (not so far away . . . at all . . . )

What do you suggest for two forty year olds (who feel like they are in their twenty's) and love Love love snorkeling but most of all, a afternoon drink on the beach, watching the sun set. We were not blessed with kids . . . . although I do have my nieces from time to time : )

There are lots of snorkeling excursions. We opted for DePalm, as I'd never snorkled before. But there are many to choose from. We went horseback riding on the beach one morning. Paid extra for our private ride and really enjoyed it. Are you in to that sort of thing? If so, look in to Rancho Ponderosa or Rancho Notorious.

Sunsets are beautiful on Palm Beach. There's an Italian restaurant up near the lighthouse that, while I wouldn't recommend dining in, I would recommend going for a drink and to watch the sun set. The views from over there are magnificent.

Speaking of sunsets on the beach, I'm sure you've heard of Simply Fish and Flying Fishbones. Both offer dining on the beach. We go to Simply Fish each time and the ambiance really can't be beat. FF is a substantial cab ride with a more extensive menu. SF is at the Marriott Stellaris hotel. A sunset reservation for either is highly recommended!

And, if you've read any/all of my other posts (LOL!) you'll see my raves about the KuKoo Kunuku bus. If you're looking for a 'wild' fun night - this is it. We had the greatest time. People from 18-78 enjoy this excursion. If you'd like to know more about it, just ask.

There are also sunset sails, dinner cruises, water sports, casinos, and more great restaurants.

Have a great weekend.

You guys want cold, come up to Syracuse! I am still trying to find a way to stay a couple nights on Eagle Beach . Bucuti has a 5 night minimum. Mancheba has a 3, but at first try was not available for the dates we need. Sigh. The good news is..we leave in 5 weeks!! The bad news is I have spent so much time on this computer that I won't fit into my bathing suit!! LOL
