Downtown Spot for Dinner Party ?

We're looking for advice on a spot in or near downtown Oranjestad to host a dinner party. Our daughter is getting married at the Renaissance private island the end of June, and we'd like to invite our group of family and friends to sort of a welcome dinner as a thank you for coming to Aruba to join us for the wedding. It would probably be for about 15 people. Waterfront would be nice but not really essential, since the next 2 nights will be chock full of waterfront events for all the wedding guests (sunset cruise on Friday followed by a beachfront buffet, and the wedding at sunset on Saturday followed by the island reception.) We have thought of either Yemanja or Pincho's, but are open to all suggestions. Close to th Ren is a plus but not mandatory, we're wiling to pay for cabs for our guests if necessary. Thoughts? This is naturally a big event for us, and we'd like to start it off with a splash!

Yemanja is absolutely wonderful, though not on the water. Some of the best meals I have had in Aruba were courtesy of this restaurant.

Pincho's - in all our trips to Aruba, we have never dined here, but stopped in for a cocktail one evening and found the setting to be just beautiful. We kept an eye on the meals coming out and they all looked delicious. So much so, we've added them to our list this year.

Another option for you is Barefoot. Located on the beach, this restaurant has received high praise from some of the regulars on the forum.

Also consider Mirpas. A relatively new restaurant, it has received high marks from restaurant reviewers.

We attended a friend's daughter's wedding on Ren Island a few years ago. They had their "Welcome Party" at Pincho's and it was great! They even put together a nice buffet of food for the guests (easier than ordering off a menu) and each guest got a couple of free drink tickets. Just really depends on what you want but it seemed like Pincho's was willing (and able) to work with anything you wanted to do.

Check with Barefoot. We all have different tastes and we preferred Barefoot to Pinchos. They are located pretty close together in the direction of the airport. Not very far from the Ren. Barefoot has on the beach or just off the beach dining options. Very nice setting. Excellent food.

Barefoot has a lot of fans and I really want to eat there during our trip. But has anyone ever been to a dinner party there? I've read about welcome dinners and such at many restaurants, but never seen one mentioned at Barefoot.

If you contact them ahead and explain what you want the owner will take care of you himself. Very involved in his restaurant. I would e-mail him and tell him what you would like and see if he could accomadate. Sure he would, down to the menu.
