Renaissance question

My husband and I are going to Aruba in Oct for 8 nights and staying at the renaissance. We got our room for under $100 per night because our daughter works at a Marriott property...so we will not do an ai option. I am confused about conflicting posts about the renaissance. Many people say there are many restaurants nearby and others say they have all closed down and there is not much nearby. Can anyone clarify this.

One of favorites is within walking distance - Yemanja. A lot of people like El Gaucho which is nearby and there's a steak restaurant right in the Hotel section. Not too far away is one of our favorites, Barefoot! I'm sure you'll get a lot of additional recommendations from others on this forum.

Within the Ren hotel are L.G. Smith's Steakhouse, Aquarius Restaurant. (buffet and ala carte) and Blue (light menu)

Across the road at Renaissance Marketplace (a short walk or there is a shuttle by golf cart). Restaurants there: CILO, Sushi-Ya, Casa Tua, Dutch Pancake house, Cafe Plaza, Cuba's Cookin'. Others in walking distance is Yemanja (one of my favorites), Driftwood (seafood), Que Pasa, Cooks Restaurant and El Gaucho., The Paddock and 7 West. Waterview dining a short taxi away is Pincho's and Barefoot.

From the bus terminal (close to the Ren) take the bus ($2.30 round trip); or taxi ($10 each way) to Palm Beach. There you will find almost 100 resturants of every cuisine.

A must is Madame Janettes.

Here is a simple map of the general area including the two hotels, the bus station and El Gaucho.

We are regular visitors to El Gaucho, Driftwood and Kowloon, all a very short walk from the hotels.

See the map link above - follow the canal to the restaurant - maybe 10 minutes +/- from the waterfront location, also from the other location about 10 minutes +/- also along Wilhelminastraat.

To El Gaucho from the Ren Marina - Go 1 block behind the hotel and make a right onto Wilhelminastraat (Yemanja is on the corner). El Gaucho is up the hill on the right..You will pass Que Pasa not far afer Yemanja.

Casa Tua Marketplace is still at Ren Marketplace. Casa Tua Pizzeria is in Palm Beach across from the Occidental Grand.

Everyone goes to El Gaucho - make reservations before you leave home. 15 min walk from the hotel.
