Snorkeling in Aruba ?

Allo Aruba Fans ,

We are staying at the riu and we would like to know if it is worth it to bring our own snorkeling gear ?

Is there anything to see in front of the hotel ?

Do we have to go to another area on the island to see something ?

Thank you diving buddys

Michel

Nothing to see from the beach by the Riu. But you can take a snorkeling cruise (alot of them leave from the pier right by the Riu) or you can snorkel on your own about a 10 minute drive north of Palm Beach at Boca Catalina or Malmok.

We always bring our own gear. Great snorkeling, easy entry from the shore at most spots named on shorediving.com

heelp,

We are planning our first trip to Aruba for this year so I can't tell you about local conditions, but we always bring our masks and snorkels. If we find we need fins we rent them locally. Something about not knowing whose mouth was on that snorkel last...

We were in Nassau one time and observed very short turn around times for the snorkel tours and were not impressed with the cleanliness of the snorkels.

The mask and snorkel do not take up much space in your luggage. Bring them.

The RIU is right next to the De Palm pier and they have a wonderful Palm Pleasure snorkel tour which lasts about 3.5 to 4 hours which I would highly recommend. They provide all the equipment.
