Oceania or Divi residences?

We're considering renting a 1 bedroom condo for our upcoming visit to the Palm/Eagle beach area. We are now use to adult-only vacations so we prefer quiet places to read by the pool or on the beach during the day and the ability to walk to evening entertainment (restaurants, jazz bars etc). I have checked out the Oceania and Divi residences. Any feedback on quality and location would be great! Any other rental suggestions also welcome.

Oceania seems like a very quiet place. We walked by it every morning on our daily walks while staying at Amsterdam Manor. I can't comment on the Divi residences, but I think you may get more of a fix of families there - I could be wrong about that.

Both places aren't in the middle of the action or very close to a lot of nightly activities. We took our rental car from Amsterdam Manor at night to the high rise area and downtown.

Both are quiet places but Oceania is definitely the quieter of the two. However, there is not alot to walk to as far as restaurants, etc. from either place. Both have a couple of restaurants within walking distance but all of the "nightlife" (restaurants, clubs, etc.) is located in the Palm Beach area or downtown. You would be about a 10 minute car/taxi drive to each area from either hotel.

Leaving for Oceania Tomorrow morning. If it's your first visit to Aruba i would say The Divi. It might give you a few more options. Oceania is really really quiet

and i think Divi will work for you.

Thanks for all the feedback. For some reason I thought the Divi residences were closer to more amenities? What would a bus or cab ride cost to dining and entertainment along palm beach? Is the bus schedule good? Would it be worth getting a car for these nightly trips?

The bus runs on a schedule from early in the morning to around 11 - 11:30 in the evening. Ask the driver for round trip - he will give you a yellow ticket good all day the day of issue for $2.30 p.p.. We carry US$5.00 bills for two tickets - US$4.60.

Catching the bus is mostly timing, it can come almost immediately or it can take 30 minutes, The routes along the hotel into town and back are L10, L10A & L10B - many new buses with A/C.

Many restaurants at Divi including the all-inclusive ones you can purchase tickets to dine, also the free shuttle takes you to the Alhambra Casino and the many restaurants behind the casino that are non-divi but the shuttle will pass them and let you on or off.

Thanks Bobcat, that helps too! Is there also a good walking route along the whole palm/eagle beach stretch? Would it be safe to walk it in the evenings instead of bus or cab?

It's safe to walk but there is no connecting walkway/sidewalk between Eagle Beach and Palm Beach...and it would be a good hike between the Divi and the Palm Beach area.

Once you get over to the Palm Beach area there are plenty of sidewalks, etc. between the hotels, restaurants, etc.
