Nightlife in Aruba

My husband and I (ages 32 and 34) are usually not into loud discos and casinos but do enjoy going out for drinks/dancing. We are looking for bars, restaurants, or clubs with a live band playing Caribbean-style music ... steel drum band, calypso, etc. with dancing.... something that we can't get at home! Does this type of nightlife exist in Aruba or would we need to look at other islands? We were also considering Turks and Caicos although much more expensive there but are willing to pay more if necessary for the experience we are looking for. I am about to book Bacuti but am still hesitating. My husband still thinks that Aruba might be too commercialized and not have the more authentic Caribbean vibe we are looking for. Please help! Thanks.

There is nightlife in Aruba but not really the type you're describing. You may want to look at other islands.

Usually after the Early Bird Specials there is a Canasta tournament or perhaps a nature lecture. For the younger set, there is sometimes line dancing lessons before bed around 9pm.

We were there earlier in the year we stayed in Amsterdam Manor.I have to say i found the island very expensive compared to the other island also why more Commercialized than some of the other island while we did enjoy it i would not be in a hurry back every little for the real cairbeen there and we also heard very little cairbeen music and also no place that the local go we did find one small bar that was good and with some local too.I found that drink was very expenisve unless you when to happy hour and also restraunts..Sayin that we did enjoy it.

I have not found Aruba to be any more expensive than most other islands we've visited. St. Maarten and the Bahamas, to name a few. Bermuda was the most expensive.
