Airport Transfers

Hi,

Coming in June with family of four. Is it easy to get transportation to/from Radisson and airport without a reservation? About how much $ ? I assume I can just get a cab easily but can book transfers ahead if necessay i.e. long waits for cabs.

Thanks

Plenty of taxis available and waiting right outside the airport doors. They always seem to know when the flights arrive. :)

We used to book transfers with our travel company when we first started visiting Aruba 13 years ago. After getting luggage we would board a bus and wait, and wait, and wait for the last person to get on. Then the bus would stop at all the resorts along the way (where people were staying) before getting to our stop (also the Radisson most times). Getting to the hotel took about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs. after arriving.

Now we get off the plane, clear immigrations (no need to get luggage as we use carry on's only), exit the airport, hop in a taxi ($25 to Radisson for up to 5 people; rates government controlled) in about 5 mins., check in and be on the beach below the bus even leaves the airport.

Guess which method I recommend?

Excellent! Thank you for the replies. We've had similar experiences with hotel transfers and always wondered why I say yes when the travel agent asks if we want them...Sounds like catching a cab is the way to go here.

Thanks

Taxi is the way to go. As Amy said, there are plenty and the price is fixed. Here's a video showing you the area outside the airport where you'll find the taxi's and such:

and the taxi rates:

Enjoy your visit.

We don't "dress up" for anything in Aruba. We take 2 or 3 pair comfortable shorts, 4-5 tops, 3 swim suits, toiletries, undies, and even an inflatable raft for comfort on the loungers. One pair sandals each, one pair sneakers worn on the flight and to walk around in the evenings. Books, etc. go into our "personal" bag they allow us in addition to the carry on.

During the week we sometimes rinse out cloths in the sink and put it on the balcony overnight to dry.

Have done this for stays of 8 nites to 11 nights. Just have to sit on suit case to get it to close. (ha, ha).
