Hyatt in Aruba or Aruba Marriott?

Which hotel would you recommend; it's for our 10th anniversary and we'll be traveling with one 7 year old daughter.

We haven't stayed at the Hyatt, but if I remember right it won the title as one of the best family resorts on Travel Chennel a few years ago. The Radisson has a nice pool area for kids and a play area as well as one of our favorite sections of beach on Palm Beach.

If you haven't checked rates at the Marriott Surf Club it might also be a wise choice for your family. Lots and lots of families with lots of activities for kids.

Both are great hotels. Hyatt has beautiful grounds. We stayed there many years ago, liked it. Thought rooms were small.

Marriott rooms are larger. See if you can rent a Marriott Timeshare. Those units have more space and a kitchen.

The Marriott Hotel is a busy place, has a Casino.

Either hotel would be a good choice.

Have fun

Your daughter would love the pool area at the Marriott Surf Club! Check redweek.com for rentals! Plus, unlike a regular hotel room, you have a full kitchen and living room area with a washer and dryer right in your unit!

The Hyatt has the better location and nicer grounds IMO. I would also consider the Radisson.

I'm laughing at myself b/c I thought your OP was Hyatt vs Radisson. Sorry if my post made you roll your eyes and wonder wth?! Sorry about that :)

I think you'd really like the Surf Club- if our son was younger I would say Surf Club every trip. We took him when he was 9 and stayed at the Renaissance Ocean Club and he loved it. We ventured away from the resort most days.

I am going soon and actually staying at both the Hyatt and Surf Club. Not sure if this is a popular thing to do in Aruba, I am doing this because of availability at the Surf Club. However, when you think about it, you get to experience 2 different properties in one trip. Maybe that is something you may want to consider.

Stayed twice at the Surf Club in a 2 BR unit with our daughter, son-in-law, 2 grandkids (4 & 5 then), and they loved it. Rented from owners and saved a lot of money. Spent almost all day in the "kiddie" pool and on the water slide; made for kids, but "kids of all ages" used it. Also have a "lazy river", and adult only pool. Also on a good size section of beach, although crowded.

Staying at the Hyatt for first time this coming Aug., so can't comment on it yet.

I am at the Surf Club now with my family. We are in a 2 bedroom unit, it is very nice and really clean. The full kitchen is coming in handy as dinner out for 6 of us (all over 18 yo) is pricey. The pools are nice. My son and I cruised the lazy river yesterday and it was very relaxing. The beachfront is very large with a lot of palapas for shade. The staff is very friendly as well. The one thing I do not like is that their concierge is not a true concierge, but rather an employee of DePalm tours so that is all they suggest for excursions.

Congratulatons on your 10th anniversary! I have stayed at the Hyatt and the Marriott. Both hotels are wonderful! The Hyatt is more centrally located to the restaurants and shops. The Marriott is presently the last hotel on the beach strip so it is farther away from the restaurants and shops. If you have a car it is not a problem at all, otherwise it is a good walk unless you take a cab. The majority of the Hyatt rooms do not have a balcony which you can sit on. It is only a step out balcony. Some of the rooms at the Hyatt do have full balconies, but I believe they are suites. The rooms at the Marriott have large balconies. The rooms at the Hyatt while really nice are smaller than the Marriott. They still are a good size. The Marriott bathrooms have double sinks. The Marriott rooms also have a small refrigerator which you can use for free. The Hyatt only has a mini bar refrigerator which you have to pay for. I believe you can rent one. While the Marriott rooms are slightly nicer than the Hyatt, the grounds at the Hyatt are really beautiful with lush landscaping and tropical birds some of which talk. The Hyatt has a beautiful open air lobby. The Hyatt has a multilevel pool with swim up bar/waterfall and a great slide which your daughter would probably love!!! My husband and I love that slide too!! The Marriott grounds while not as pretty as the Hyatt are also lovely. They have a nice free form pool with swim up bar and waterfall. There is also an adult only pool. Both hotels have hot tubs. The Hyatt also tends to be higher priced than the Marriott. Happy choosing.

Lovetoski accurately said it all. I've stayed at both and prefer the Marriott because of the balcony and the larger rooms. I usually have a car so location is not a factor. I actually prefer the Marriott location as I feel the Hyatt location area is very congested and Collins Avenuish. You can't go wrong with either hotel.
