I am back from my stay at the Marriott...any questions?

Greetings!

I am back from my stay at the Marriott Stellaris - Aruba....any questions for me?

While, I stayed at the resort most of the time and didn't do any cool excursions..I would be happy to answer any questions regarding my beautiful experience and trip to Aruba.

I hope to have my hotel review posted soon! However, I will be checking this post and my inbox to see if you have any questions for me.

Hi Kristen! Thanks for you post! I'm so glad you enjoyed your vacation to Aruba! My husband will be celebrating his 50th birthday in December so I want to surprise him with a trip. We've traveled a bit before staying at mostly all-inclusives in Mexico, Turks & Caicos and St. Lucia. This time, I'm thinking of trying Aruba. I've read alot of good reviews on this particular Marriott. Did you do the Tradewinds club for your stay? If so, was it worth it? Also, what is there to do in the evenings on the resort itself? And also, do you know if there are Hobie Cats available for sailing, and if so, does it cost extra?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi - i will be going in two weeks. How were the restaurants on site (ie buffet restaurant/simply fish? Was the palapa reservation difficult around this time of the year? Also, any restaurants you recommend within walking distance? Have you tried the bus system.

Marriott Stellaris does not have an AI option. The Renaissance downtown does, it is a Marriott property.

Stayed here last December 2012 and here is a link to my great time I had which included snorkeling:

I loved the casino and my wife hit a big jackpot on the slots, not to many persons have done that..

The biggest negative I have on the Marriott is the way the huts (palapa) are allocated. The whole week we couldn't get one, and that is why we are not going back to there this year. Of course the steak house was expensive but a walk down to the Italian restaurant was priced right and a very good meal.

The beach vendor wanted $60 for a wooden eagle, and I got it for $20. Don't pay the asking prices.

We stayed there 2yrs ago & returning this coming March. The upgrade to Tradewinds is very well worth it!! It puts you on floor level of no children, great free brkfst & lunch w/ all day access to the concierge lounge (free waters, sodas & beers). Then they have a happy hr in concierge every day which features apps from their restaurants (sushi, lamb chops, etc) & open bar. The Tradewinds upgrade also includes a part of Marriott's beach that only Tradewinds customers can access so no fighting for rafts, loungers or huts.

Their sushi restaurant was good, their buffet restaurant on Saturdays has all you can eat lobster. Hope that hasn't changed!

Very interested in visiting this hotel however, past experiences have been "a very smokey hotel", as well as the rooms due to the fact that the casino is in the middle. This was 3 yrs. ago. Is it any different now??

My family of 4 will be staying at the Marriott for 1 week in June. We're reserved a Governor's suite (to have a large enough space so our 12 & 9 yr old sons can stay in the room with us). These rooms are supposed to come with palapas. Did you happen to stay in a larger suite there, or did you hear anything about people in certain rooms having access to palapas anytime they wanted (vs. the stand in the line situation)? Thanks for any info shared!!
