Honeymoon in May

Our honeymoon is only three weeks away and we cannot wait to be in Aruba! I have used TA & my hotel concierge at Bucuti to put together a pretty full itinerary but I wanted to see if anyone has other suggestions. We are staying for a week and have booked the following:

Kini Kini ATV tour

Kukoo Kunuku dinner & party bus tour

Sweetheart Sunset Sailing cruise by Unique Sports of Aruba

De Palm Island half day tour

Six hr sail & snorkel tour by Tranquilo

Spa treatments at Arawak Spa

Several of these activites do not take the entire day so we should have plenty of time to relax on the beach. A few dinner reservations we made are at Elements & Yemanja Woodfired Grill. We have a day to visit Oranjestad to go shopping and a couple of nights around the Palm Beach resorts.

We want a good mix of relaxing/romance/adventure and a little bit of nightlife. Anything on your must do list I should also be considering?

For romantic dining I suggest Barefoot, Windows On Aruba and LaTrattoria. Your schedule is a little too busy for my taste, but we are all different. IMO, skip Kukoo Kunuku. I thought that it was pretty lame. Stopped for dinner at some diplomat's house. Bad food and bad bars afterward.

Hi, you know what you like.. but i would agree with Tony and 100% skip the Kukoo Kunuku bus. I would also skip the island tour and rent a jeep for the day and explore the island on your own. For me sitting on a big tour bus for a few hours is not fun.. Getting in a jeep going 4 wheeling and exploring the island at my pace .. way more fun especially I am sure at your age. I would also skip the sunset sail and book dinner at sunset at Passions instead. You will not need a full day to visit downtown, a few hours would do. Again just my opinion.

Thanks for the input. It's funny about Kukoo Kunuku is we originally didn't have it in our plans but were convinced to add it from co-workers who loved it. I guess we'll give it a shot and see.

Thanks for the dinner suggestions. That is twice I've heard LaTrattoria so I think I'll add that to the list.

The De Palm island tour is really more of a beach day than tour bus. I figured with the ATV tour that would satify our fix for exploring the island but having a jeep for a day sounds good. Have you tried it before? Any places we should check out on the other side of the island?

The sunset sail is something offered through our hotel honeymoon package. We've taken a catamaran out in Florida before so I imagine it will be something similar.

Your schedule is a little full for me (but to each their own) - I am more of a beach/spa girl.

i would also skip Kukuu.... my husband and I were very disappointed (in our early 30s). It was lame, overpriced, and the bars were empty. You can bar hop on your own for way cheaper and way more fun. Or spend an evening in the casinos and get free drinks instead.

I also don't think you need a full day in Oranjestad - TBH, there's not much to see, perhaps just take an hour or two before your dinner at Yemanja?

For me, a must do is dinner at 2Fools and a Bull and/or Carte Blanche. Passions is very nice and romantic for a honeymoon as well.

Have fun - we also HM'd in Aruba 7 years ago and have been back 4 times since - we'll be at the Radisson in 3 weeks. I can't wait - it's 40 degrees in Pittsburgh :)

The plan for Oranjestad was to take a late lunch at Sushi-Ya then go shopping for a few hours. We have the sunset cruise starting at 5 that day so we might be there 3 hours or so. Is there anything to do at night? We wanted to come back after our dinner at Yemanja but wasn't sure exactly where to go.

I've heard great stories about 2 Fools but we are not really foodies so I don't think we would appreciate the food as much as others. The atmosphere sounds like a lot of fun so I might save this for our next trip back :).

Did you go on the Sweetheart Sunset Sailing Cruise? We are staying at Bucuti next spring and the concierge sent me a note suggesting the cruise. Would love to hear about your stay.

We did the sunset cruise because it was included in our honeymoon package. I would highly recommend it. They sail on Wednesday nights and it's only for Bucuti guests. We've done sunset cruises in the past but they have always been private so we weren't really sure what it was going to be like. What we took away from it (besides the beautiful sunset and free drinks) were the friends we made. Bucuti is fairly small so we ran into/made plans with the other guests the rest of the week. If you do book it I hope you get as lucky as we did with how much fun everyone was.

I second bdvegas's assessment of the Bucuti cruise -- it was the perfect opportunity to get to know other guests staying at the resort, since it is only open to Bucuti guests. We went while we were there on our honeymoon and have already signed up to go again during our stay next month. Highly recommended.
