Marriott Stellaris VS Ritz Carlton

Hi-

Researching our first trip to Aruba- we will be traveling with our 2 boys, ages 4 and 8. We have been to Turks and Caicos and Grand Cayman and are excited to now visit Aruba! I would love to get some input on the Marriott Stellaris vs the Ritz, especially from anyone who has stayed at both properties! We will be using reward points for our stay, so we aren't interested in other properties besides Marriott or Ritz for this stay. Thanks in advance!! :)

This is an easy one- the Ritz wins hands down. I have states multiple times at the Ritz and will be staying at the Marriott over NYE on points but ONLY because the Ritz is not accepting points then.

The Marriott is a nice hotel, the Ritz is great and if you are paying with points, easy like I said in my last post. Have fun!

I have been to both.

A couple of tips:

If you are flush with points and have them to burn, go to the Ritz. From there, if you can afford it, upgrade to the Club Level with cash.

If you want to be a bit more frugal with your points, consider booking a regular room at the Marriott Stellaris, then upgrade to the Tradewinds Club. You can do this ahead of time, or onsite when you arrive. I like to do this when I arrive, as I have been able to negotiate a lower upgrade fee. Online, I believe it is $200 upgrade fee, per night. Read about the TC on the Marriott website - all the rooms have great views. I would consider a Marriott Tradewinds Club room with all its benefits to be better than a regular Ritz Aruba room.

If you are flying with points and staying at least 7 days, do a travel package - these are always the most efficient use of points....http://www.marriott.com/rewards/usepoints/morepack.mi

Remember, if you are Platinum, you should get a room upgrade at either property. My status has been recognized with a room upgrade every time we have stayed at each hotel in the past.

Regarding price and points - it really comes down to your dates and what is available. I have seen the Marriott room rates higher than the Ritz at times.

Both hotels are right next to each other, so you will have time to check out the other property so that you can decide where you are going to stay on your SECOND trip to Aruba.

Have fun.

No Tradewinds Club for these guests. They are staying with children under 18.

Oops, forgot about that.

Governors Suites, on the South wing, if available, are awesome rooms with spectacular views. Lots of extra space for the kids. Will cost you some upgrade dollars on top of points, but alot less than the Ritz's top tier rooms.

The governor suites are spectacular. The views up and down the coast can't be beat. The two bathrooms are nice. There are king sofa beds in these rooms.

Can't go wrong here, I would say the Ritz but at the same time I wonder if Stellaris with the kids might make more sense. If you like the Ritz brand then go for that. Stellaris is a little closer to walking the strip on Palm Beach and the outdoor Palm Beach Mall. Stellaris has a large lobby the many quest like to utilize. Ritz lobby is really nice but pretty quiet. I'm just thinking about what you could do before or after dinner with the kids. I think you would see more young families at Stellaris.
