Desperate for a room after Newport-Bermuda race...June 25-30

So, I'm doing the Newport-Bermuda Race, and (with luck) will arrive in BDA by about June 25. I really don't want to sleep on the boat with eight other smelly sailors. And, my wife wants to come down for a few days, so the boat definitely won't do.

Pretty much everything even remotely attractive is booked.

It looks like the Fairmont Southampton might have rooms, but I really dislike large hotels. Plus, it's kind of expensive.

Any Ideas?

How about Horizons? I think they just reopened for reservations. You might give them a call at HORIZONS & COTTAGES--1-800-468-0022

I'm sure their rates aren't cheap, but Newstead is beautiful. It sounds like you're looking more for a guest house of some sort though.....?

Whatever you do....DO IT IMMEDIATELY. Post-race week on Bermuda usually generates 100% occupancy at a great many Bermuda guest accommodations. Most of the smaller hotels, guesthouses and B&B in the immediate vicinity of the yacht berths and anchorages in Hamilton Harbour and Saint George's Harbour have been fully booked for a year in advance. As examples, both ROSEDON, FOURWAYS INN, WATERLOO HOUSE, SALT KETTLE GUEST HOUSE have been fully booked for post-race week since last years Marion-Bermuda Race Week.

The suggestion of HORIZONS & COTTAGES is a solid one, since they only decided to re-open for this seaon a couple of weeks ago....and word of the decision hasn't spread very far as yet....and they still MAY have availability for post-race week. The NEWSTEAD has only rescently re-openned, and they may have availability--
